Babushkas

"Babushka" is the Russian word meaning "Grandmother". I'm not sure at exactly which point  in a woman's life she turns into one and starts to wear the obligatory Babushka uniform complete with scarf and slippers and apron, but wherever you look you can spot a Babushka. I asked Ben Robbins, who is a Peace Corp volunteer in Konstantinovka, where to find the best food in Ukraine. He replied " Babushka's kitchen...ANY Babushka." He turned out to be excruciatingly correct. Above are a couple of Babushkas outside a bus stop in Kramatorsk. The one on the left could be seen tidying up outside our apartment each morning.
